Bird House Gourds

I harvested the bird house gourds today. I believe four of them will made decent birdhouses if they survive the drying process. I am leaving them out in a bed on an old shutter. I have not had the squirrels taking bites out of them yet.

Bird House Gourds

Is this late blight on my bird house gourd vine? What a shame it will be if I lose all the vines and gourds to blight. I guess I should have pulled all of my tomatoes earlier. Live and learn.

Bird House Gourd Vines Moved

I transplanted the Bird House Gourd vines because they were getting munched on under the lithrum nead the trellis. I moved them to the recently vacated pea trellis hoping the varmints don't find them. Maybe the trellis will put out the mythological Siren call to the birdhouse vines calling them home (Homer?).

Bird House Gourd Seeds

I planted five of the Bird House Gourd seeds just to the right of the remaining trellis. I have enjoyed reading about the gourds being made into Martin houses. You will enjoy it as well by clicking here.
