Carrots

Ms. Wabbit jumped into the carrots today while I watched from a few feet away. After theScarecrow chased her out, I looked to see what she was so interested in and decided to thin them a bit. WOW! Look at the size of these babies! I had no idea they had grown so much. No wonder she was stalking the garden.

Rain Barrel

We have had so little rain the past three weeks that the rain barrel is empty.

Beautiful! This little bee may not be able to fly with having the whole sunflower pollin to himself and his legs already full of pollin.

Bees Pollinating the Pumpkin Vine

I was worried that the bees were not pollinating the pumpkin blossoms very well as we have had a ton of blossoms and only two pumpkins. This morning I watched as the bees went from blossom to blossom, just filling up their back legs and making pumpkin babies!

Nate's Sunflowers and Bees

The seeds for these beautiful sunflowers were given out at the funeral of a young Dickinson College student named Nate Kirkland. Nate tragically died this year. I will try to collect some of the seeds before the birds eat them all, so I can pass some along and grow more sunflowers next year. If you knew Nate, let me know if you would like some of the saved seeds.
